Sierra Gorda SCM is a self-managed Join Venture, with equity ownership of two international companies:
55% KGHM Polska Miedź
45% South32
KGHM POLSKA Miedź (KGHM) is one of the largest companies in Poland, with more than 60 years of experience in the worldwide production of copper and silver. Its shares are stock exchange traded and a third of its equity ownership is controlled by the Polish Government. It is a fundamental actor in the economy of that country, generating more than 34,000 jobs and maintaining active social involvement. In addition, it is the main copper producer in Europe and the main silver producer worldwide. Its headquarters are located in the city of Lubin.
South32 is a global mining and metals company, which creates value by producing raw materials. Its headquarters are located in the city of Perth, Australia, but its operations are diversified according to geography and mineral. In each of them it seeks to minimize the impact of its activities, aiming to generate value for all its stakeholders at each stage of the life cycle of the mining operation. Its production is focused on aluminum, alumina, metallurgical coal, manganese, nickel, silver, lead, and zinc.
