MANAGEMENT AND HANDLING OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL HERITAGE

In 2023, we conducted an audit of Protected Archaeological Assets in the areas of the Sierra Gorda SCM project.

 

AUDIT RECOMMENDATIONS FOR IMPLEMENTATION IN 2023:

• Regularize sectors based on the findings of the audit report.
• Do not remove or leave abandoned material on the road.
• Remove any waste of any kind that is carried in the vehicle.
• Travel only on existing roads.
• In case of detecting elements that may belong to the category of Historical Monument and/or Cultural Heritage (bones, remains of ruins, pots, or any other evidence that suggests the presence of such elements), work must cease, the area must be isolated, and immediate notification must be given to the Sierra Gorda SCM Environmental Department.

 

The mentioned audit was conducted over three campaigns held between May 16 and June 16. During this period, the conservation status of the heritage elements at a total of 128 sites was evaluated, which also included the review of the condition of fences and signage, in accordance with the criteria established by the National Monuments Council.
